Advanced Heat Treat Corp. (AHT) announced the addition of UltraGlow induction hardening at its location in Cullman, Ala. The custom-built induction equipment has been delivered, and the company is ready for induction work. AHT’s Alabama employees trained at the company’s Waterloo, Iowa, location to prepare for the new service offering. Waterloo operates six induction-hardening units and hundreds of coils to accommodate various geometries.

Alcoa Corp. announced a $51 million project to increase the production capacity at its Mosjøen smelter in Norway by 14,000 metric tons per year (mtpy). Alcoa’s Mosjøen location currently has a nameplate capacity of 200,000 mtpy, and the investment is expected to increase that capacity to 214,000 mtpy by the end of 2026. Amperage to the site’s two potlines will be increased via improved electrical infrastructure, including the installation of new high-voltage cabling and switching equipment. The planned investment will also improve the site’s existing anode production processes. Alcoa also recently announced that its Mosjøen facility is operating an induction furnace that uses renewable energy to melt and recycle scrap aluminum.
Cook Induction partnered with Super Systems Inc. to implement a fully electronic SCADA package at its Nadcap-approved facility in Maywood, Calif., which offers heat-treating and brazing (induction, torch and furnace) services. “Having the ability to track and recall furnace data from our desks has made life so much easier,” said Troy Doolittle, Cook Induction’s quality manager. “The new system has improved our ability to stay on top of scheduling and production.”
