Aerobraze Engineered Technologies Oklahoma City has been awarded a five-year contract with the United States Air Force (USAF). The contract includes the overhaul/remanufacture of F-15 fighter aircraft tubular heat exchangers and C-130 heat exchangers at the Tinker Air Force Base. Based in Oklahoma, Tinker Air Force Base is the headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command’s (AFMC) Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC), which manages aircraft, engines, missiles and more.
SECO/WARWICK delivered a controlled-atmosphere brazing (CAB) line to a British manufacturer of industrial heat exchangers. The system will allow the company to expand its range of sizes and dimensions of aluminum heat exchangers that can be brazed using CAB technology. The CAB line includes an Active Only semi-continuous furnace, which is comprised of a dryer, purging chamber, convection-heated brazing furnace, protective-atmosphere cooling chamber and a final cooling chamber. This will be complemented by an integrated system for loading, sequencing, stacking, transferring and unloading the work in progress.
SECO/WARWICK will deliver a vacuum furnace to SonFlow’s facility in Kolding, Denmark. The furnace is designed for copper brazing of large-dimension plate heat exchangers for industrial, HVAC and offshore applications. A work area of 35.5 x 35.5 x 47 inches (900 x 900 x 1,200 mm) will enable the SonFlow plant to perform in-house brazing without the need to outsource work to third parties. A graphite chamber ensures power savings, and shortened cycle times are guaranteed due to the vacuum level of 10-3 mbar. As part of the contract, SECO/WARWICK also designed the external water-cooling system. This portion of the project will use SonFlow’s pumps and heat exchangers for fabrication.
Busch Vacuum Solutions USA, a Virginia Beach, Va.-based manufacturer of vacuum pumps, blowers, compressors and systems, acquired Jennings Associates Inc., a distributor for new equipment, maintenance and repair for vacuum pumps, blowers and heat exchangers. The acquisition of Jennings’ vacuum pump, blower and service portion of the business furthers Busch’s long-term goal of providing better technical and service support for customers in the eastern central region of the United States.
