Solar Manufacturing shipped a vacuum furnace to a medical device and implant manufacturer in the Southeast United States. It features an all-metal insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity of up to 250 pounds and a maximum operating temperature of 2400°F (1227°C). The Mentor vacuum furnace will be used to age harden and anneal medical devices and implants. According to Solar Manufacturing, the furnace was delivered along with a water system and a custom heat-treat recipe for the medical-grade components being processed.

It includes a graphite-insulated hot zone, a load weight capacity of up to 250 pounds and a maximum operating temperature of 2400°F. The Mentor vacuum furnace will be used to age harden precipitation-hardened stainless steels and beryllium copper. Solar Manufacturing also delivered a water system and the recipes for the heat-treat cycles the company’s materials require.

Solar Atmospheres Installs 14-Foot Air Furnace

Solar Atmospheres of Western PA installed a 14-foot-long car-bottom air furnace that was surveyed in accordance with AMS2750 Rev E and is uniform within ±10°F (Class 2). With a work zone measuring 60 inches wide x 54 inches high x 168 inches long, the furnace will be capable of handling workloads up to 30,000 pounds. A maximum operating temperature of 1400°F allows the furnace to accommodate the tempering of large tool-steel components and the age-hardening processes of nickel-based alloys and precipitation-hardenable stainless steels.

Solar Atmospheres of Western PA invested in a new car-bottom air furnace. The 20-foot-long furnace, which will be delivered in July 2018, will be surveyed in accordance with AMS 2750 and is uniform within ±10°F (Class 2). It has a working zone that is 60 inches square x 240 inches long and will handle a workload up to 30,000 pounds. With a maximum operating temperature of 1400°F, the furnace will accommodate not only the tempering of large tool-steel components but also age hardening of 15-5 PH, 17-4 PH and nickel-based alloys.
