Busch Vacuum Solutions U.S. acquired VESCO-McLaughlin Inc. (VESCO), an industrial service company specializing in the heat-treatment and metallurgy industries. East Windsor, Conn.-based VESCO was formerly part of McLaughlin Furnace Group (MFG), a supplier of engineered vacuum solutions for thermal-processing and surface-preparation applications. MFG’s major customers operate in the aerospace, automotive, defense, energy and semiconductor fabrication industries. The addition of VESCO expands Busch Vacuum Solutions’ business by adding complementary services to its current offering.

Pfeiffer Vacuum opened a 40,000-square-foot facility in Indianapolis, Ind., that will serve North American customers in all technological questions around leak detection and high-vacuum technology, focusing on the automotive industry, semiconductor applications, medical devices and consumer electronics. The Leak Detection Center of Excellence includes a CNC machine shop and modular assembly bays to support air and helium leak detection as well as custom-engineered vacuum systems. Customers will be able to have parts tested on Pfeiffer Vacuum leak-detection technologies – such as air, helium and hydrogen test methods – and determine which is best for their application.
Busch (UK) Ltd., part of the global Busch Vacuum Solutions group, acquired Vacuum Furnace Engineering (VFE). The acquisition enables both VFE and Busch (UK) to strengthen their leading vacuum solutions and services for U.K. metallurgy and composites manufacturers. Since 1985, VFE has provided vacuum services, specialist equipment, control and calibration solutions to heat-treatment facilities and advanced material manufacturers in the U.K. Busch (UK) has 50 years of experience in providing individual and tailor-made vacuum solutions and services to companies in a wide range of market segments, including metallurgy.
Busch Vacuum Solutions USA, a Virginia Beach, Va.-based manufacturer of vacuum pumps, blowers, compressors and systems, acquired Jennings Associates Inc., a distributor for new equipment, maintenance and repair for vacuum pumps, blowers and heat exchangers. The acquisition of Jennings’ vacuum pump, blower and service portion of the business furthers Busch’s long-term goal of providing better technical and service support for customers in the eastern central region of the United States.
The HiPace 350 and 450 turbopumps are dedicated for applications like mass spectrometry, electron microscopy, metrology tools, particle accelerators and plasma physics.
