Registration for IHEA’s Fundamentals of Industrial Process Heating online learning course is now open for fall 2020. Scheduled to begin October 5, the six-week class will run through November 15. The flexible online format and interactive forums with other students, along with scheduled office hours with the instructor, are just a few of the benefits of this program.
The Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) recently announced its 2020-2021 Board of Directors and Executive Officers. The new executive officers are Scott Bishop of Alabama Power Company as president, Jeff Valuck of Surface Combustion as vice president and Brian Kelly of Honeywell Thermal Solutions as treasurer. Bishop has served as IRED chairman, presented at numerous workshops and seminars, and provided key support in the recent revision of the Infrared Process Heating Handbook for Industrial Applications. Michael Stowe of Advanced Energy assumes the role of past president.
IHEA’s Fundamentals of Industrial Process Heating online learning course is scheduled to begin April 13, 2020. Students benefit from the flexible online format that includes interactive forums with other students and scheduled office hours with the instructor. It’s an affordable alternative to campus-based classes and allows students to go at their own pace.
The Industrial Heating Equipment Association’s (IHEA) Infrared Equipment Division (IRED) completed revisions to its Infrared Process Heating Handbook for Industrial Applications. This introduction to the many applications of infrared heating in industrial processes has been updated to include new technical information, additional application examples and new case studies.
Registration is now open for IHEA’s Fundamentals of Industrial Process Heating Online Learning Course, which begins Oct. 7. Students will learn the basics of heat transfer, fuels and combustion, energy use, furnace design, refractories, automatic control and atmospheres as applied to industrial process heating.

The event will be held at the Intercontinental Cleveland Sept. 24-26. The technical seminar series will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the IHEA Fall Business Conference on Thursday.

The technical seminar series will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the Fall Business Conference on Thursday at the Intercontinental Cleveland. The Combustion Seminar and the Safety Standards and Codes Seminar will take place concurrently over both days. There will also be two separate one-day seminars on infrared heating and induction technology. Attendees of all four seminars will enjoy access to IHEA’s tabletop exhibition and reception on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 24.
I know that some of you reading this column are on board with memberships in our industry associations – Metal Treating Institute (MTI) and Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA).
Attendees will gain an understanding of: the basics of how induction technology works; the equipment needed for an induction operation; induction processes, applications and markets; the advantages of induction for improving plant operations; and what is needed to set up an induction operation.
