The Timken Company, a manufacturer of engineered bearings and industrial motion products, acquired the assets of American Roller Bearing Company (ARB), a North Carolina-based manufacturer of industrial bearings. ARB’s offerings join Timken’s industry-leading portfolio of engineered bearing solutions. ARB employs approximately 190 people and operates manufacturing facilities in Hiddenite and Morganton, N.C.
SECO/WARWICK delivered a roller-hearth furnace to global bearing manufacturer NSK. The furnace, which will spheroidize anneal rings for the bearing industry, will be installed at the company’s plant in Kielce, Poland. The entire automated process line consists of a loading table with a drive, loading elevators with side handling, heating chambers, controlled cooling chambers, cooling tunnels, unloading elevators and tables. It also includes a control cabinet with a complete automated visualization system that provides comprehensive control over the production process. The process line, which is built around the roller-hearth furnace, is intended to be used for the heat treatment of workpieces following downstream processes that are then assembled into bearings used in the automotive sector.
In our industrialized society, bearings are literally what makes the world go ‘round. Without bearings, modern-day machines could not exist. This includes things we take for granted such as planes, trains and automobiles. Without heat treatment, bearings could not do their job. So, by extension, heat treatment keeps the world’s wheels turning.
Global automotive parts manufacturer NTN will invest approximately $58 million to expand its facility in Anderson, Ind. The expansion will create 140 new jobs and allow for heat treatment in the plant.
Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. received an order from an automotive corporation’s U.S.-based bearing division for a mesh-belt furnace system for heat treating thrust races, retainer/cages and washers.
Deep-groove ball bearings – featuring super-finished raceways and controlled internal geometries – deliver run-quiet operation, with best-in-class noise and vibration performance when tested against similar products.
