Ebeam 2010 featured 19 speakers from
around the world and was attended by 60 companies from Brazil, Canada, Czech
Republic, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and the United States. Ebeam is a
biannual event that first convened in Reno, Nev., in 1983.
This slightly abridged paper reviews the proceedings of the International Conference on High Power Electron Beam (EB) Technology, sponsored by ALD Vacuum Technology, Bakish Materials Corp. and von Ardenne Anlagentechnik. The conference was held in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 26-28, 2008.
Ebeam 2006 was co-sponsored by ALD Vacuum Technology, Inc., von Ardenne Anlagentechnik GmbH and Bakish Materials Corporation. Over 70 professionals from Bulgaria, France, Great Britain, India, Russia, Ukraine and the United States attended the event to hear of advances and discuss developments in EB melting and coating. Most, if not all, companies active in this technology were represented.
The highly specialized fields of electron-beam melting and coating continue to advance in improved equipment, processing and quality control, which will help reduce manufacturing costs and improve yields.
