After the year we experienced, I wasn’t quite sure what to focus on in the last editorial of 2020. We all know what we have personally been through – bad or good – so there’s no reason to rehash that. We do want to be certain readers understand what’s happening with Industrial Heating and know where to go for information.
If you haven’t yet discovered, things are a bit different at Industrial Heating. Change, however, is not always a bad thing. In fact, we would argue that this change is a good thing for you, our faithful readers.
We are approaching another election of consequence, but aren’t they all. Regardless of who is elected, our next president and other elected officials have a big job ahead of them.
With our diverse editorial coverage, there are a number of associations in our industry. I personally belong to APMI International (MPIF) for powder metals and additive manufacturing as well as AIST (Association for Iron & Steel Technology). That’s in addition to IHEA and MTI, of course.
Change. It is something that all of us are faced with these days. From COVID-19 to civil unrest, we are facing new business and personal challenges that can also provide opportunities, depending on how you look at them.
July is always our annual Buyers Guide issue. This year is no different. 2020, however, marks a somewhat significant milestone – albeit a personal one.
When I realized that my metallurgical career began four decades ago in May, I decided to take a look at one 40-year career in this field. A motivation to do so is some recent condescension of Baby Boomers by younger generations because we have not had it as tough as they. That may be true, but I’ll let you decide.
Our changing times have resulted in disruptions for automotive and virtually every other industry. Publishing is changing as well, and you will now be receiving Industrial Heating digitally.
Even though times – and with it technology – are constantly evolving, Industrial Heating’s directories (for the most part) remain the same. They may look different in the magazine, but their purpose never changes: to provide you with a valuable resource that can be used for the entire year.
