Saarstahl is investing approximately $19 million to expand heat-treatment capacity at Saar-Blankstahl, its subsidiary in Homburg, Germany. The investment includes a roller-hearth furnace for heat treatment; construction of a 4,300-square-meter hall with cranes; and a straightening machine with a corresponding packaging unit. The new heat-treatment plant is scheduled to begin operation in fall 2020.
Thermal Product Solutions LLC (TPS), a global manufacturer of thermal-processing equipment, appointed Greg Jennings to the position of president and CEO. Jennings has experience in both Fortune 500 and private companies. He has held the position of chief financial officer (CFO) at TPS since 2013. During his time as CFO, he was instrumental during the acquisition of Wisconsin Oven and Baker Furnace. Prior to TPS, Jennings held a number of domestic and international positions within SPX Corp.
Advanced Heat Treat Corp. (AHT) announced building expansions at its Monroe, Mich., and Waterloo, Iowa, locations. The extra space will enable AHT to add more equipment and services. The Michigan site is expanding its pit, which will allow for two additional nitriding units. AHT Burton, referred to by the street name because there are two locations in Waterloo, is adding additional square footage onto its building. The expansion will allow for additional equipment and services to be added. The expansions are expected to be complete by mid-summer.
Dave Strand was hired by Wisconsin Oven Corp. as a shop worker in 1986. In 2019, he retires as president and CEO of Thermal Product Solutions, the parent company of Wisconsin Oven. Strand dedicated 33 years to the continued growth of Wisconsin Oven, and his presence will be greatly missed by employees, customers and community partners.
L&L Special Furnace Co. Inc. shipped and installed a box retort furnace to a manufacturer of aerospace components located in the southern U.S. The furnace will be used to debinder ceramic-matrix-composite (CMC) parts. The main function of the furnace is to remove all organics and other materials used in the product prior to placing it in a high-fire vacuum chamber. This debindering process allows for a finished product that is not only very strong but also lightweight.
The Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) heads to Cleveland, Ohio, for its 2019 Fall Seminars and Fall Business Conference. The event will be held at the Intercontinental Cleveland Sept. 24-26. The technical seminar series will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the IHEA Fall Business Conference on Thursday.
ParkOhio completed the previously announced acquisition of Erie Press Systems (formally EFCO Inc.) of Erie, Pa. Erie Press manufactures advanced forging presses, hydraulic and mechanical presses, and metal stretch-forming and carbon extrusion machines for end markets including aerospace and defense, primary metals and high-speed rail.
