Aerospace Repairs with Scrap and AM

Indian scientists have for the first time repaired nickel-based superalloy aero-engine components through the use of the directed energy deposition additive manufacturing (AM) process. The powder was developed using an inert-gas atomizer by melting unused scrap material. This AM (3D-printing) technique significantly reduces repair costs and time.
