May 6, 2020
A partnership will invest $53.75 million to establish Iran’s first silicon production factory. Once operational, the country can utilize the factory’s capacity for aluminum and solar-panel production.
Development of the facility is expected to take two years and create a “considerable” number of jobs. Iran’s consumption of silicon in the aluminum industry is currently around 5,000 tons per year.
