A new project, AddSteel, coordinated by SMS Group GmbH aims to develop new function-adapted AM steel materials. One of AddSteel’s first reported successes was the development of case-hardenable and heat-treatable steel powders. This was necessary – along with other developments – because current alloys current materials crack and form defects when additively manufactured.
