Dr. Valery Rudnev presented the 77th Woodside Lecture May 13 in Livonia, Mich. His presentation focused on recent theoretical and practical novelties in induction heat treatment. Common mispostulations associated with induction heating and frequently overlooked metallurgical subtleties were also discussed.

Rudnev is the director of science and technology at Inductoheat Inc., an Inductotherm Group Company. Considered by many as one of the leading global figures in the induction heating and heat-treating industry, he has more than 40 years of experience and has been elected as a Fellow of both ASM International and the International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering (IFHTSE).

The Woodside Lecture is named after William P. Woodside, who founded ASM in Detroit in 1913. Woodside also founded Park Chemical in 1911.
