It appears that the domestic U.S. market for aluminum is stagnant-to-soft while the export price is stronger and trending up. Tariffs have reduced the amount of scrap being purchased by China, but other foreign markets have more than made up for the loss. Total U.S. exports increased 12% last year.
European recycling has been constantly increasing. In comparison with 2012, Europe is currently recycling almost 20% more.
