Andritz received an order from Nucor Steel Arkansas for a hot-dip galvanizing line for its facility in Hickman, Ark. The line will have an annual capacity of approximately 455,000 metric tons and is designed to produce high-strength steel grades, mainly for the automotive industry. Start-up is scheduled for the first half of 2021. Andritz’s scope of supply includes the complete hot-dip galvanizing line, particularly a furnace with the latest annealing technology for high-strength steel grades.
Andritz will also supply mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, automation equipment and start-up services. Nucor Corp. has an annual production capacity of over 24 million tons. The company also uses electric-arc furnaces to melt steel scrap instead of blast furnaces for smelting iron.
