A controlled thermonuclear fusion reaction could be the answer the world’s energy problems. The sustained generation of a fusion reaction, however, has been nothing more than fantasy since scientists came up with the idea over 70 years ago. Lockheed Martin hopes to change that. The company’s Skunk Works lab registered a patent for a compact fusion reactor (CFR) that produces cheap, clean, near-limitless energy – theoretically.
