NASA’s Inventions and Contributions Board handed out its award for the 2018 Government and Commercial Invention of the Year. The winner is a solid coating that is able to continue lubricating in temperatures that range from -300°F to 1700°F.
It is superior to lubricants like oil and grease, and it is also better than solid alternatives like graphite or other carbon-based materials. PS/PM400 is a composite material that is environmentally stable and functions with reduced friction and wear in extreme temperatures.
