Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for September 2018 remained over 50 for the 22nd straight month. Although the change in the number of orders increased from August, the other three indices declined. The change in the number of orders was at its highest level since December 2017. September 2018’s index numbers:

  • Change in number of request for quotes from July to August – 56.7
  • Change in number of orders from July to August – 58.4
  • Change in backlog from July to August – 53.0
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through Sept. – 57.3

September 2018’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their August 2018 business levels to their July 2018 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
