Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory issued a High Performance Computing for Manufacturing (HPC4Mfg) call for proposals for projects aimed at addressing key challenges in U.S. steel and aluminum manufacturing.

The solicitation is specifically aimed at U.S. producers of primary and secondary steel and aluminum products interested in applying modeling, simulation and data analysis to improve energy efficiency, increase productivity, reduce cycle time and accelerate innovation. Funding of up to $1.2 million will be made available from the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) for as many as four collaborative projects.
