Metalloinvest, a producer of high-quality steel, launched a new heat-treatment facility at Ural Steel. The installation of a roller-hearth furnace and rolling quenching machine at Sheet Rolling Facility #1 will enable Ural Steel to increase its heat-treatment production capacity from 28.6 to 30.7 metric tons per hour. Over the next 10 years, the Russian steelmaker will be able to increase the production of heat-treated heavy plate threefold and the output of steel for bridge construction by 39%.
The roller-hearth furnace and rolling quenching machine will also help improve the characteristics of the heavy plate, ensuring the physical uniformity of the rolled-steel products following heat treatment. Tenova LOI Thermprocess was responsible for equipment delivery.
