The Historical Society of Perry County and The Perry Historians have combined their efforts to save the Caroline Furnace, the last remaining iron forge in the Pennsylvania county. Money raised from an auction held in May went toward restoring the historic furnace, which was used between 1836 and the 1850s. Preservation efforts are expected to cost around $25,000.
