Shipbuilding with Bots
Hyundai Heavy Industries is turning to robots to help build their enormous container ships. The company has designed and tested a 1,480-pound industrial bot that can curve and weld steel plates for the front and back of vessels through remote connectivity between the machine and design software. Hyundai plans to use the robot next year in an effort to cut welding time and reduce the number of skilled workers.
