Tenova, a company of the Techint Group, has been contracted by Shandong Laigang Yongfeng Steel Corp., a subsidiary of Yongfeng Group Ltd., to supply two electric-arc furnaces (EAF) and Consteel Evolution plants equipped with Consteerrer technology for the company’s melt shop in Shandong Province, China.

Environmental regulations recently introduced in China have motivated steelmakers to use a different manufacturing approach. Some have converted their steel plants to EAF technology. Tenova’s EAF Consteel Evolution provides savings in electrical consumption and improved productivity and environmental protection.

Consteerrer technology, which was developed by Tenova and ABB, enhances the Consteel Evolution process with ABB’s ArcSave noncontact electromagnetic stirring of the furnace’s liquid bath. It can be customized to match the needs of different EAF process steps.
