Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for May 2018 remained over 50 for the 18th straight month. However, all four indices declined from April. The change in the number of orders and the expected change in the health of the industry have both been over 55 since December 2017. May 2018’s index numbers:

  • Change in number of request for quotes from March to April – 58.3
  • Change in number of orders from March to April – 55.5
  • Change in backlog from March to April – 54.2
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through May – 58.6

May 2018’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their April 2018 business levels to their March 2018 levels. A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth.
