The Supervisory Board and shareholders of Messe Düsseldorf approved plans for the complete reconstruction of the fairground’s South Entrance and, subsequently, Hall 1. The work began in May 2017 and should be completed in summer 2019.

Due to the ongoing construction, Tube exhibitors previously housed in halls 1 and 2 will be provided with alternative, attractive stand options in halls 16 and 17. Therefore, Tube 2018 will be held in halls 3 to 7 and halls 16 and 17 as well as temporary hall 18. Wire 2018 exhibitors will present their innovations in halls 9 to 16.

The new South Entrance will give Messe Düsseldorf a contemporary presence directly on the banks of the Rhine with a view toward Düsseldorf. Visitors and convention delegates will be welcomed by an illuminated and translucent awning 83,950 square feet in size and about 65 feet high.

Messe Düsseldorf plans to demolish Halls 1 and 2 and replace them with a new building, which will be ready for use in fall 2019. Comprising over 129,160 square feet, the new hall will be about the size of existing halls 8a and 8b and will allow suspensions from the ceiling.
