ArcelorMittal Investment Includes Reheating Furnaces
ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada will invest approximately $56.7 million in its Contrecoeur, Quebec, steel production facilities by 2020. The company will replace two reheating furnaces at its Contrecoeur-East wire rod mill and its Contrecoeur-West bar mill. These new furnaces, which aim to increase rolling capacity by 100,000 metric tons, will enable greater productivity, optimal energy use and reduced emissions.
ArcelorMittal will also replace the dust collector at the Contrecoeur-West steelworks by the end of 2018 to improve its performance and increase health and safety for workers. In addition to these announcements, ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada invested approximately $21.9 million in a new finishing line at its Longueuil mill, a project that was completed in June 2017.
