Bodycote announced that its Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, hot isostatic pressing (HIP) location will take delivery of a new Mega-HIP unit, which will be operational by the end of 2018. The high-pressure, high-temperature unit is Nadcap-capable to meet the growing demand of the European aerospace market. This investment will significantly increase Bodycote’s Nadcap HIP capacity globally.
Bodycote operates the world’s largest HIP equipment network and continues to invest in recognition of growing demand for HIP technology. The company has over 50 HIP vessels of varying sizes in multiple locations. Processing capability can accommodate components up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) in diameter x 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) high and weighing over 66,000 pounds (30,000 kg). In addition to standard quality and environmental accreditations, Bodycote’s HIP facilities also hold ASTM and NORSOK accreditations.
