Hyundai is recalling 420 model year 2017 Santa Fe SUVs equipped with 3.3-liter engines. Crankshaft pins that were insufficiently heat treated resulted in engine bearing wear and failure. Hyundai blames the problems on an improperly positioned heat-treatment (induction) coil, which caused an insufficient heat treatment of the pins.
