Heat Treat Equipment may be the new kid on the block as a company, but it has more than four decades of experience in the thermal-processing industry.

That experience starts with John L. Becker, who established Heat Treat Equipment in 2011. Becker is also the founder and long-time president of J.L. Becker Company, a manufacturer of heat-treating furnaces and auxiliary equipment for over 40 years. J.L. Becker Company has been designing, engineering and assembling a full line of industrial heat-processing equipment at its facility in Plymouth, Mich., since 1974.

So, with decades of furnace manufacturing experience, Becker started Canton, Mich.-based Heat Treat Equipment to serve as a broker in the sale of used furnaces and other heat-treating equipment. Today, the company has 15-20 employees.

Heat Treat Equipment has a large inventory of used and refurbished furnaces, generators and parts washers. The types of furnaces include: batch, bell, box, car bottom, continuous, drop-bottom, forge, mesh-belt, nitriding, pit, roller hearth, rotary hearth, tip-up and vacuum.

This MTI member also sells material-handling equipment, including conveyors, holding stations and scissor lifts; metallurgical lab equipment, including grinders, cutoff saws, hardness testers, metallographs and mounting presses;  and ovens, including cabinet and walk-in.

In addition to equipment, Heat Treat Equipment offers installation and start-up services. The company can also provide supervisory and logistical services and can even arrange for rigging services. And that isn’t all. Heat Treat Equipment can supply appraisal services on used furnaces and heat-treating equipment for sales and insurance purposes. The company can also provide fire consulting services and arrange consignment sales.
