GE Additive is working on a unit that will be able to print in a “build envelop” of 1-meter-cubed (1,000 mm x 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm), making it the world's largest laser-powder additive-manufacturing machine. Tailored for the aerospace industry, it will 3D-print parts 1 meter in diameter – suitable for jet-engine structural components and parts for single-aisle aircraft. GE says it will also be applicable for manufacturers in the automotive industry.
