Tenova Inc. (USA) has been contracted by Charter Steel to design and supply a Consteel system to integrate with the existing electric-arc furnace (EAF) at its facility in Saukville, Wis. The Consteel system will feature the latest design and automation associated with the proven continuous scrap preheating and feeding technology to the EAF. The design for Charter Steel utilizes a double-conveyor feed system to overcome the challenges of the existing melt-shop layout. Installation is scheduled for the second half of 2018.

The Consteel system, as proven in six U.S. installations and 51 other installations worldwide, increases steelmaking productivity and reduces energy consumption. Charter Steel supplies carbon and alloy steel bar, rod and wire products.
