French Forged Parts Inspected

Millstone Nuclear Power Plant in Connecticut inspected parts supplied by Creusot Forge (Areva) to determine if a manufacturing defect exists. Inspection findings indicated no problem, but reports showed that the forgings were suspected of having carbon segregation. This segregation was near-surface and could result in local areas of reduced toughness.
