Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. has been contracted by a European company to design, manufacture and commission an automated T7 heat-treatment system for the processing of high-integrity aluminum automotive structural castings. The system offers part-handling features that reduce floor-space requirements and energy consumption while providing predictable mechanical properties and dimensional stability of the casting. It is scheduled to be delivered and commissioned in the third quarter of 2017.
The high-volume continuous line includes: an integrated handling systems connected to upstream and downstream processes, robotic handling, solution furnace with precision air quench (PAQ™) technology, artificial-aging system and a Level II SCADA system. The PAQ system uniformly delivers controlled quenching processes that provide repeatable and uniform mechanical properties. The European company that placed the order designs and develops light-weighting, thin-walled automotive structural castings.
