O’Fallon Casting broke ground on a 25,000-square-foot expansion that will bring the total size of its facility in O’Fallon, Mo., to 75,000 square feet. The expansion includes a new high-capacity solution-anneal oven that will nearly double the company’s current heat-treating capacity. The main focus of the project is to streamline product flow and modernize the casting cleanup and pre-inspection areas. Construction will take approximately 12-16 months and will work around the current production schedule to ensure that O’Fallon Casting maintains on-time delivery.
Other key features of the expansion include:
- A conveyor system that will move cast shells directly from the foundry to the casting cleanup area, reducing the possibility of handling damage
- A newly designed automatic water-wash machines to remove a majority of the ceramic shell in one pass
- A new dust collection system in the pre-inspection area
- Increased warehouse space
