Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for September 2016 increased from August and all four indices showed growth. Perhaps more importantly, the change in the number of orders was at its highest level since November 2014 and the change in backlog was at its highest level since December 2014. It was also the first time all four indices were over 50 in 23 months. September 2016’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their August 2016 business levels to their July 2016 levels. September 2016’s index numbers:

  • Change in number of request for quotes from July to August – 53.4
  • Change in number of orders from July to August – 54.2
  • Change in backlog from July to August – 51.5
  • Expected change in the health of the industry through August – 51.5

A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, in October 2016’s Industrial Heating.
