GKN Hoeganaes agreed to enter into a joint-venture agreement with TLS Technik to manufacture titanium powders in North America for additive-manufacturing (AM) applications. TLS of Bitterfeld, Germany, has 20 years of experience manufacturing titanium powder for the AM market. The joint venture complements GKN’s previously announced powder R&D efforts in Cinnaminson, N.J., and provides a North American source for titanium powders, especially for the aerospace and medical markets. A new facility for the joint venture is scheduled to open in 2017.
