PhoenixTM supplied a hot-box system to a major U.S. and European manufacturer of aluminum extrusions for the aerospace industry. The system will be engineered to withstand a full immersion water quench during the solution heat-treatment process and will use 2 x 20 channel data loggers to monitor temperatures throughout the furnace from up to 40 thermocouples. The company aims to gather as much temperature data as possible during a profiling trial with a view to optimizing the heat-treatment operation. In the future, the system may also be used to carry out regular TUS surveys as part of the company’s ongoing Nadcap accreditation.
