Linamar Corp. and GF Automotive, a division of Georg Fischer AG, selected Henderson County, N.C., as the location for a jointly owned aluminum die-casting plant. The new entity, GF Linamar LLC, will provide large light-metal high-pressure die castings for powertrain, driveline and structural components to the NAFTA automotive market. GF Linamar LLC will invest more than $200 million in a new facility in Mills River in two phases over the next seven years. Approximately 350 new manufacturing jobs will be created over the next five years.
The plant is scheduled to begin production in mid-2017 and will provide integrated casting and machining solutions to automotive, industrial and commercial customers. In addition, Linamar plans to offer on-site machining services to provide optimal integrated cast and machined solutions to customers. This will be Linamar’s fourth plant in North Carolina.
