Danieli received an order from Mexico’s Grupo Simec for a complete greenfield mini-mill. The steel complex will include heat treatment of long products, steel melting, scrap processing, secondary refining, round billet casting, hot rolling, in-line cold-finishing bar inspection and an advanced wire rod line. Danieli will also supply all electrical components and an advanced automation system for the entire plant. The $600 million investment will help Grupo Simec improve its position as a leading producer and processor of special-bar-quality (SBQ) steels. Plant start-up is expected by the end of 2017.
