Ipsen recently shipped a horizontal TurboTreater® vacuum furnace with 2-bar gas quenching to a metal-casting company in Texas, where it will be used to process parts for the aerospace industry. The furnace features a 36 x 36 x 48-inch (914 mm x 914 mm x 1,219-mm) graphite hot zone with a carbon-steel gas distribution plenum and a 3,000-pound (1,361-kg) load capacity. It operates at temperatures of 1000-2400°F (538-1316°C) with ±10°F (±6°C) temperature uniformity. The furnace, which is capable of meeting applicable AMS 2750E requirements, is also equipped with a 20-inch Varian diffusion pump and Ipsen’s CompuVac control system.

In addition, this TurboTreater was equipped with a motion sensor on the mechanical pump with software that isolates the diffusion pump in the event of a failure or the maximum allowable foreline pressure being exceeded, as well as a variable-frequency drive on the gas fan cooling motor for controlled cooling. Other additions included a barcode scanner/reader, a paperless recorder with a channel for recording the dew point and a spare-parts starter kit.
