Pyradia received an order for a drop-bottom furnace from a supplier of precision aluminum and magnesium sand-cast components for the aerospace industry. The electrically powered 48 x 48 x 48-inch AMS 2750E, Class II furnace will be able to reach a maximum design temperature of 1200°F (650°C) and a  temperature uniformity  of +/-10°F within the working zone at an operating temperature between 600-1150°F (315-620°C). It will be used to heat treat sand castings. The furnace will be equipped with a variable-speed electromechanical hoist system and a Honeywell eZtrend data-acquisition system.
