Now that winter is finally in our collective rear-view mirror, let’s take a look at some available resources – upcoming industry events and via Industrial Heating – to keep you busy and, more importantly, informed. There are a lot of options.

Events

This year is a pretty big one for trade shows. First and foremost, we have Thermprocess 2015, the world’s largest and most important platform for the presentation of highly innovative technological and environmental concepts for the thermal-processing industry. An extravaganza that happens only once every four years, this show featured almost 2,000 exhibitors and 79,000 attendees from 83 different countries in 2011. Four events (Thermprocess, GIFA, METEC and NEWCAST) will provide a complete overview of the international metallurgy market from June 16-20 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

One thing to keep an eye on at Thermprocess is the IHEA/Industrial Heating Resource Center. This magazine has partnered with IHEA to offer a variety of benefits to sponsoring companies at the show. Visit page 24 for information on the Resource Center at the show.

Second, we have Heat Treat 2015, the 28th ASM Heat Treating Conference and Exposition. Co-located with Gear Expo, this biannual event offers a mix of education, technology, exposition opportunities and networking. Held Oct. 20-22 in Detroit, the show promises a robust technical program and a wide variety of exhibiting companies.

Industrial Heating

If you haven’t already noticed, April is home to our annual Aftermarket Directory, a comprehensive look at post-sale parts and services. We offer two listings: Company and Capabilities Listings. See page 47 for more information. This followed up our annual Commercial Heat Treaters Directory in March.

The important thing to note about these resources is that they are both available on our website. Both of these directories, and two others, can be found here: http://directories.industrialheating.com/. An advantage over the print edition is that they are fully searchable. If you’re in need of a commercial heat treater, you can simply enter your zip code to find one closest to your location. If you’re looking for aftermarket services, you can search by product or company. The other benefit offered is that you can list your company if is not already included.

One of our main goals is to inform you of the latest industry news. One way to do that is via social media. So, we encourage you to “Stay Connected.” Become a part of our online communities to receive industry-related updates and to network with other industry professionals. You can join us on Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter and/or YouTube at www.industrialheating.com/connect.

Bookstore

Industrial Heating has worked closely with The Heat Treat Doctor, Dan Herring, over the last several years to publish two books. Vacuum Heat Treatment is a comprehensive introduction and technical resource for vacuum processes and equipment, focusing on subjects that engineers, heat treaters, quality-assurance personnel and metallurgists need to know. Atmosphere Heat Treatment (Volume I) is written specifically for the heat treater, engineer and metallurgist. Volume II is set to be released in October. Visit www.industrialheating.com/bookstore for more information.

Summary

Whether it’s at the two big industry shows of the year (Thermprocess, Heat Treat 2015) or on www.industrialheating.com, you have a variety of options to help you stay abreast of industry goings-on. It’s up to you to utilize what’s available.
