Ipsen International GmbH selected a combination of dry vacuum pumping technology from Edwards for use in seven large high-vacuum brazing furnaces. This marks the first time Ipsen has used Edwards’ systems for its vacuum brazing equipment. To ensure high end-product quality, it is important that the furnaces do not get contaminated with oil, so a combination of totally dry pumps was chosen. Edwards’ global operation and ability to provide local support and servicing worldwide were also key factors in Ipsen’s decision. The brazing furnaces had the vacuum systems installed and were delivered to customers in China. These furnaces each use a combination of an Edwards’ GXS250 with mechanical booster and two STP4503 turbomolecular pumps.
