ALD-Dynatech installed a single-chamber vacuum hardening furnace with high-pressure gas quenching at Vasantha Tool Craft’s manufacturing plant in Hydarabad, India. The multi-purpose furnace is ideally suited for the hardening of tools under an oxygen-free environment. Depending on the part geometry, quench pressure can be adjusted to a gentle cooling with 1.5 bar or high-pressure gas quenching designed up to 10 bar. With auxiliary equipment installed, the system can be expanded for processes such as vacuum carburizing, annealing, tempering, brazing and sintering.

The furnace has an effective hot-zone size of 16 x 16 x 24 inches and a load capacity of 440 pounds.  Heating can be performed in vacuum as well as under convection. Treated parts are heated very homogeneously in a temperature range between 150°C (300°F) and 1320°C (2408°F). With an advanced PLC/HMI control system, the furnace complies with Nadcap and AMS 2750E.
