C.I. Hayes, a Gasbarre Furnace Group Company, recently installed a continuous oil-quench vacuum furnace for the hardening of tool steels at a manufacturer’s facility in Pennsylvania. The modular furnace is equipped with silicon carbide (SiC) heating elements and a ceramic-fiber heating chamber rated to 2000°F (1093°C), allowing it to operate in air or under vacuum. Cranston, R.I.-based C.I. Hayes has been manufacturing heat-treating equipment for 109 years.
