StrikoWestofen GmbH will supply a StrikoMelter melting furnace to aluminum die-caster CastAlum of Welshpool, Wales. The system has a special shaft geometry that uses hot exhaust gases from the holding and melting process to preheat the material to be handled. This reduces the energy consumption of the actual melting process. Each of the fully automatic casting cells has a melting furnace of its own, and the capacity and volume of liquid aluminum kept at the ready are perfectly adapted to meet requirements.

CastAlum manufactures castings for the automotive industry with customers in Europe, Canada, Mexico and Asia. The company, which was founded in 2000, is planning to expand – and order more StrikoMelters – in 2015. This is the 11th StrikoMelter to be installed at CastAlum. The existing furnaces melt ingots as well as production returns.
