Vacuum Furnaces Sold for Aerospace Processing
VAC AERO recently sold six vacuum furnaces to companies active in aerospace, research and development and manufacturing. Three of the furnaces will be used specifically to process parts for the aerospace industry. The largest of these furnaces is a VAV 7260 HV-6 bottom-loading vacuum furnace with a work chamber of 72 inches diameter x 60 inches high. The furnace includes a high-vacuum pumping system and a 6-bar argon and nitrogen quench system. The energy-efficient graphite hot zone is capable of processing temperatures up to 2400°F (1315°C), and the heavy-duty hearth is constructed with quickly removable rails of pure molybdenum capable of handling distributed loads of up to 4,000 pounds. A key control-system feature is the ability to independently control the work-chamber zones for optimal workload uniformity as well as the ability to program heat-treatment cycles that can then be run automatically and accurately.
