Pyradia received an order for a drop-bottom furnace from Steelville Manufacturing Co., a contract machine shop in Missouri. The 48-inch x 48-inch x 48-inch unit will be used for heat treating aluminum aircraft parts for the defense industry. The electric-powered heat-treating furnace, designed in accordance with AMS 2750E Class I standards (+/-5°F temperature uniformity) and equipped with a water/PAG quench tank, has an operating range of 300-1150°F (150-620°C). Commissioning is currently scheduled for January 2015.
