Industrial Heating, in cooperation with MTI, invites you to nominate an MTI member company for the 2014 Commercial Heat Treater of the Year award. You can nominate any company you feel is qualified – including your own if you are a commercial heat treater. Formally called the “Master Craftsman Award,” this honor will be given to one MTI member company that demonstrates they are “making a positive impact on their community and their industry.” The award, which will be presented at the 2014 Fall Meeting in Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 8, is based on the following criteria:

  • Quality Programs – Document the steps taken to establish a comprehensive quality program. The applicant should give specific examples of the programs in place, certifications granted and how the programs have improved business.
  • Pollution/Hazardous Waste Control – Specify the steps taken to minimize the effect of possible pollution or hazardous waste, whether through the purchase of equipment or through internal programs.
  • Community Leadership – Outline the efforts taken to contribute to your community. These contributions can include volunteer, educational or financial efforts.

The winner will receive a plaque along with a $1,500 donation to be presented as a scholarship to a high school senior or college student pursuing a degree in materials science or an apprentice program in heat treating. Industrial Heating will publicize news of both the winning company and the scholarship recipient.

The application can be found on MTI's website and here. Please use separate sheets of paper. If you are nominating another company, tells us what you know about them and we will follow up. If you are nominating your own company, please complete the application as thoroughly as possible. The application must be sent to bill@industrialheating.com no later than Aug. 29, 2014. Call Bill Mayer at 412-306-4350 if you have any questions.
