Praxair announced the start-up of a new 600-tons/day air-separation unit (ASU) in Memphis, Tenn. The new ASU will expand the company’s ability to supply gaseous and liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon to customers in the southeastern U.S. Praxair operates multiple plants and pipelines throughout the region that serve customers including Nucor Steel Memphis. The Memphis facility will serve liquid-product customers, including the region’s automotive industry.
In other news, Praxair was ranked 30th in the U.S. 500 and 52nd in the Global 500 Newsweek Green Rankings. Praxair was ranked 3rd in the Global 500 worldwide Materials sector. This is the fifth time Praxair was cited by Newsweek as a Top Green Company – each year the study has been published. Newsweek Green Rankings comprehensively assesses the performance of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. and around the world.
